My site offers a wide vareity of baby gifts including baby clothes, gifts baskets, baby blankets etc and many of these items can be personalized to make keepsake gifts. We have a smaller selection of gifts suitable for the new mother as well. A portion of our profits will go to children's charities.~~ What inspired you to launch your own website? I am recently retired and was looking for something to keep my mind active and to offer a new challenge as well to earn some extra money to supplement my pension. When did you launch your first website, and what was it? This is my firts website and I launced it about a year ago How did you decide on a name for your website? I wanted something simple and eay to remember but that reflected what I was selling. What makes your website different from other, similar offerings? I hope it is the wide selection of items that can be personalized and that we give some of our profits to charity. What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?) My goal is to be successful and to earn enough to do some of the extra little things that make life a little easier. How does your investment of time and money balance against your success? Right now my investment in time and money far far outway my success. If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site? I would hire a very good marketing team to market the site. Right now my funds are very limited in that field. If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand? If it got really big, I would hire someone to assist me. What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with? I bought a package deal to set up this site and found that the quality of work in some aspects was far from satisfactory. I was also misled in what costs were covered in the deal, particularily in marketing. The amount of time I am spending on development is also a great deal more than I was led to believe I would need. What has been your biggest challenge? Getting traffic to my site. What method has been most successful for promoting your website? Nothing was been a great success, but I guess building links and page rank have been the most successful. How has running your website differed from your expectations? The amount of time required to keep it updated is a lot more than expected and I love that part of it. I am having more difficulty with writting decriptive ads and emails. The costs are also a lot more than I was led to belive. How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity? This site has been active for since Oct/08 and I will continue to run it as long as the costs do not increase and I begin to make a small profit at least.
