Soapstones Soap & Skincare Products Interview

Name of your website?

Soapstones Soap & Skincare Products

Your name?

Darla Stipanovich

Your Location (city, etc)

Huntsville, Ontario

Please give us a short summary of your website?

Offering our handmade, environmentally safe skincare line that reflects the Beauty and Natural Peace of Muskoka, Ontario, the Heart of Cottage Country in Canada.~~

What inspired you to launch your own website?

Our customers are primarily cottagers who return to their homes in the fall. We wanted to make their continued purchases with us through the winter as easy as possible.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

First launced in 2005, same website.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It is the name of my company.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

It is the only website that offers our product line.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

We wish to increase our sales through our webpage to more than just those people who already know us.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Not well yet. Primary customers are people who already know us and know our products.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I'd hire a company that knows how to properly promote our website using all the bells and whistles that are now available; Google, Facebook, Twitter.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

Yes, we've grown enormously in the retail marketplace and have staff and product to support a growth in our web page business.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

We've grown carefully and slowly so no big headaches.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Getting people to our website who have never been to any of our shops.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Email blasts from the website about products, sales, etc.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It needs constant attention.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

It's four years old and will remain strong as long as we are in business.

What is your website address?
