LolaBabiez Organics Interview Name of your website?LolaBabiez Organics Your name? Carrie Jekogian Your Location (city, etc) Westminster Please give us a short summary of your website? LolaBabiez Organics is run by a mom-on-the-go specializing in eco-chic baby and nursing products. We carry unique clothing, bpa free bottles, non-toxic toys, and baby gifts - your one-stop-shop for all your green baby needs.~~ What inspired you to launch your own website? I started doing research on organics for babies. My sons who are now 5 and 2 have benefited from all the organic and pure baby products I have found and use in my home. It is scary to investigate what is included in baby products. Being organic isn't a choice, it is a necessity. I now need to spread the word and show other moms what is available for green babies. When did you launch your first website, and what was it? I launched my site in January of 2008 and have done all the work myself. My site is self-taught and I have grown in so many ways by all that I have learned. How did you decide on a name for your website? Lola is my doggie who supports me in all I do & I spelt babies "babiez" since I'm also a school teacher and teach phonics so I wanted to spell the name "babies" how it sounds. What makes your website different from other, similar offerings? All my products are true and tried on my family. I try every product before I list it on my site. What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?) My goal is solely run my business full time. If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site? I'm not sure where I would start. I would contact a business specializing in that area since right now the business is doing well, but I take it day-to-day. If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand? I would have to hire help. What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with? I have a lot of stock in my basement that sits. I have done a few shows to turn some inventory around, but since I don't have store front it makes it difficult. What has been your biggest challenge? Learning how to design a website. I have to constantly update items and forget. There is so much to do for a website. What method has been most successful for promoting your website? The most successful has been Google adwords & then putting an ad in a few parenting magazines. How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity? I have been up for over a year and continue forever, if all goes well. Considering that the need for green products are increasing, I feel I made a solid choice in my business.
